Fee types to check
- Trading fees or maker/taker schedules
- Bid–ask spread (often larger than explicit fees)
- Deposit / withdrawal / network gas
- FX or stablecoin conversion friction
Risk checklist
- Resolution risk: unclear rules or delayed sources
- Liquidity risk: cannot exit at a fair price
- Custody risk: keys, smart contracts, or platform insolvency
- Regulatory risk: access changes by jurisdiction
- Information risk: markets can be wrong for long stretches
Position sizing
Treat early trades as tuition. Prefer liquid markets, read rules twice, and never size as if a price is “certain.”
