Why did an obvious contender resolve No?
Usually eligibility. Submission windows, category definitions and territory rules decide what can win, and a strong title outside those rules simply cannot resolve Yes.
Are box-office markets settled on estimates?
It depends on the contract. Some read weekend estimates and some read revised finals, and the two differ often enough to flip marginal thresholds.
