Access and KYC still split one story into two venues
A US user and an EU user can read the same headline and be looking at two different legal products. The URL in a tweet is not an access check.
Why the same price is not the same product
Kalshi is a CFTC designated contract market for eligible US users. Polymarket is a crypto event board with its own geo and wallet rules. Smarkets is a UK-licensed exchange. Manifold is mostly play-money. Those four can all show a number next to the same election or sports title. Only one of them may be a product you can legally use.
If you cannot trade the venue, the price is information — useful for research — not a quote you can hit. That is why Regions and the country pages exist. We will not publish a VPN workaround. Eligibility is part of the product.
The three checks before the mid
- Region. Open the official site. If it blocks you, stop. Then use USA, UK or EU for the research shortlist that matches that problem.
- Identity. KYC-required cash venues and wallet-first crypto venues are different onboarding paths. “No KYC” is not a promise that a product is allowed where you live. See the no-KYC list for the research framing, then the live terms.
- Custody and payout. Bank rail vs stablecoin vs play-money. A blocked withdrawal is an access failure even if the mid looked fine.

Platform-level detail stays on the reviews: start with Polymarket, Kalshi and Smarkets, or the directory. Side-by-side sits on Compare. The ranking that answers “top prediction markets” is this page, not a tweetstorm. Legal questions that are really “is this venue allowed for me” belong on Is Polymarket legal? and the regulation tracker — not in a comment asking for a workaround.
We will keep repeating this because the failure mode is always the same: a global headline, a local product, and a reader who thought the URL was the access check.
